PennTrackXC: How is your fitness now that you are nearing the end of the 2013 season? What excites you most about the meets to come?

Dominic Hockenbury: I am happy with my fitness now, but there is always room for improvement. What excites me about the meets to come is that I'm looking forward to peaking and racing some of the fastest kids from around the state.

PennTrackXC: Which 2013 meet has been the most important for you thus far, and what did you learn from the race?

Dominic Hockenbury: Thus far, the PIAA Foundations race was [my most important] because it was on the state course and it gave me an idea of my condition early in the season.

PennTrackXC: What kind of adjustments, if any, have you made this season?

Dominic Hockenbury: This season I have made a few adjustments with my form. I have also been doing more strength training along with additional stretching in order to stay healthy and run at my highest level.

PennTrackXC: When and how did you get started in cross country?

Dominic Hockenbury: I got in the seventh grade after my junior high coach asked me to go out.

PennTrackXC: Who has influenced you the most in your life and what they meant to you and your success?

Dominic Hockenbury: My father has influenced me the most in my life and running career. He told stories of when he ran in high school and college before I had even started running and they are what made me consider going out for cross country in the first place. He also has helped me with my training and I believe he is the main reason for my success in this sport.

PennTrackXC: What are your keys to success when it comes to your training program?

Dominic Hockenbury: The keys to success are consistency, staying focused and recovering from workouts properly.

PennTrackXC: What is your most memorable performance in a cross country race over your career and why?

Dominic Hockenbury: It was medaling last year at states with my teammate, Kieran Sutton, who currently runs for Shippensburg University.

PennTrackXC: What is your greatest non-running experience in cross country so far and why?

Dominic Hockenbury: So far, it's being able to meet some great kids from all around the state.

PennTrackXC: What are your goals for the 2013 cross country season?

Dominic Hockenbury: My goals are to stay healthy, get faster and get a top five finish at states.
