Courtney McCartney makes MileSplit All American Team in the Shot Put!

Selinsgrove rising senior Courtney McCartney has been rewarded for her big 2014 indoor and outdoor season. The indoor and outdoor shot put state champion was ranked as the 6th best shot putter in the nation for 2014 by MileSplit on Monday. In 2014, McCartney won all four of her domestic shot put competitions and she threw her indoor best 45-7.25 at the state meet. She also finished just one place shy of an indoor All American berth, finishing 7th at New Balance Indoor Nationals. During the outdoor season, she broke the 45 foot mark an outstanding eight times in just ten appearances, winning six. She didn't finish worse than 5th in any outdoor competition, which included a 3rd place finish at the Penn Relays and a 2nd place finish at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals, giving her All American honors for the outdoor season. Her best mark came at the state championships with her winning mark of 49-0.25, the biggest throw in PA since the 2008 season and was her 2nd outdoor state title in a row. Her 49-0.25 mark was the 6th best mark in the US in 2014!

Congratulations Courtney!
