PTXC Performers of the Week: Week 1

Every week, we will honor the best male runner, the best female runner, and the best team(s) from the previous weekend. The team and individual honors can be shared. One school can win team of the week should both their boys and girls teams have a special achievement.

Boys

The first boys athlete of the week goes to the first sub 16 minute runner in PA for 2014. Dominic Hockenbury of Lake-Lehman won the Cliff Robbins Invitational with a time of 15:51, which ranks US#53 in the early stages of the 2014 season. It was also Hockenbury’s best time of his career.

Girls

Marissa Sheva of Pennridge has earned PennTrack’s first girls athlete of the week for the new season. The senior ran the 63rd best time in the US in the early stages of 2014. Her time of 18:53.9 won her the John Sharp Invitational for the 2nd straight season. It is the best time in the state through one week.

Team of the week

The first team of the week award goes to the boys and girls of Scranton Prep in District 2. Scranton Prep did something special on the opening weekend by winning both the boys and girls team titles at the Cliff Robbins Invitational on Saturday. The boys used a 55 second spread between their five scoring runners to run away with the boys crown by nearly 70 points. The girls had the individual gold medalist and four runners in the top 15 to win the meet by 35 points!

Congrats to our winners!
