Marion Center girls had four of the top nine overall finishers to win the county championship over Indiana Area 31-47. Indiana Area did have the individual champion, as Melanie Zoloczik ran 20:43 to win the gold medal by 13 seconds. For the boys, Kiski Prep had three finishers in the top 11 in a spread out race to come away with the county title over United 50-78. Individual honors went to Sam Lenze of Indiana County with a time of 17:30. |

Midwestern Athletic Conference
Quaker Valley swept both conference team championships, as the boys survived a strong push by Mars Area, holding on to the team title by a score of 69-72. Quaker Valley were led by another winning performance by Zack Skolnekovich, who ran 16:32 to defeat AA 1600 and 800 meter track champion Dominic Peretta of Beaver Falls.
The Quaker Valley girls had a more straight forward path to the team title, placing six of the top fourteen overall finishers to cruise over West Allegheny 37-75. Alexis O'Shea led the way for West Allegheny, recording another victory with a winning time of 19:11.

Westmoreland County Coaches Association
Seton Hill University
Franklin Regional boys had five finishers in the top ten overall with a 58 second spread to cruise to the County title over Norwin 34-75. Individual gold went to Ben Bickerton of Southmoreland in 17:03. For the girls, Megan Aller of Kiski Area got the best of Riley Kwiatowski of Greensburg Salem to win the individual crown with a time of 19:51. Her performance also led her team to the county team title over Hempfield (7) 45-79.

DELCO Championships
 Kevin James of Cardinal O'Hara repeated as county champion with a history making performance. The senior set a new course record of 15:22, breaking the old course record of 15:27 set by Neal Berman of Lower Merion back in 2008. It also broke the county meet record of 15:32 set by Steve Hallihan of Cardinal O'Hara back in 2004. His teammates were just as impressive behind him, scoring 22 points to cruise to a county championship title defense.
For the girls, we had an upset at the front, as Country Day School of the Sacred Heart freshman Emma Seifried overcame the star power of Cardinal O'Hara's deep squad to come away with the county title on her first attempt. Her time of 18:41 was 17 seconds better than the Mancini pairing of Elizabeth and Grace. O'Hara did have a comfortable day in the team title chase, scoring 23 points to win the county title over Strath Haven. O'Hara have won four invitationals and finished 2nd in two others this season.

GIRLS TEAM PREVIEW The 2014 race appears to have only 2 teams that will climb 2-Mile hill in an effort to become the DELCO CHAMPS. STRATH HAVEN(ranked PA #7 before Paul Short)) was the Champion in 2011, 2012, and 2013. They also won in 2007 and 2008. In 2013 STRATH HAVEN only beat OHARA by a 6th girl tiebreaker. CARDINAL OHARA(ranked PA #3 before Paul Short) last won DELCOS in 2004, but they are really strong this year as evidenced by their win in the BRIARWOOD CHAMPIONSHIP race. They have 6 solid runners and are definitely the favorite!! OHARA has already beaten STRATH HAVEN this year at FOUNDATION by 50 and by 270 at PAUL SHORT(STRATH HAVEN was without their #4 and #5). There is a good possibilty that among the 20 DELCO schools 10 of the TOP 12 individuals in the race could be from either OHARA or STRATH HAVEN.
INDIVIDUAL PREVIEW Again this year, the Individual DELCO Champion race is wide open. There is no clear favorite and in fact 7 girls have a real chance!! Freshmen Siefried(SACRED HEART) and Elizabeth Mancini(OHARA) are the only newcomers who could win DELCOS in 2014. Siefried was 3rd at BULLDOG "Small" and last year was a CYO STAR!!! Mancini ran an amazing 9th at PAUL SHORT this past Saturday and is also a veteran of many CYO championships. The other 5 girls who could win finished in this order in 2013--G.Mancini(OH 11) 2nd--Arizin(OH 10) 3rd--Mesyngier(SH 11) 9th--Wolters(SH 12) 11th and Hayes(OH 10) 26th. G.Mancini has been having breathing problems, but is tough as they come. Arizin and Hayes have been running really well this year. Mesyngier and Wolters give STRATH HAVEN a chance of having another DELCO champion(5 of last 7 years). The TOP 7 girls are likely to make 1st team DELAWARE COUNTY DAILY TIMES ALL-DELCO. Here are the other 4 girls who could be in the hunt for TOP 7---Lyons(OH 10)--Eleanor Mancini(OH 9)--Cardi(SH 10)-- and Joseph(UD 10).
BOYS TEAM PREVIEW OHARA! OHARA! OHARA!---Historically, OHARA has dominated the DELCO XC CHAMPS. Coach Tom Kennedy's harriers have been FIRST 11 of the last 16 years!! This year OHARA is ranked #3 in PENNSYLVANIA. No DELCO team is even close to them this year. OHARA will make more TEAM HISTORY this Saturday!!!!!!! At least there may be a TEAM race for 2nd!? INDIVIDUAL PREVIEW Lets look at some more HISTORY. An OHARA runner has been the DELCO Champ 10 of the last 14 years(including 2013). This year will likely be no different!! Senior K.James won in 2013 and he will repeat in 2014. He is likely to be followed by his brother, R. James(10) and his teammate Morro(12). That's OH 1-2-3. It looks like only sophomores Galligan(SF) or Kim(HAVSCHOOL) or Zwichorowski(ACAR) can break them up. For the other All DELCO 3 spots, there are a plethora of pretty good runners. Among them are Miller(SF 12)--Holm(RAD 12)--Dwyer(RAD 12)--Sullivan(BP 11)--Rastatter(BP 12)--Orcutt(PC 12)--Beckley-Gray(SH 11)--Bush(SV)and Abrahams(HAV). |

Mid-Penn Conference Champs
Cumberland Valley boys kept the momentum going from their big runner up finish at the Paul Short Run last week to come away as the new champions of the Mid-Penn Conference! The squad in red were the only team to have three top fifteen finishers and five top 25 finishers, which did the trick in bringing home the title over State College 75-96. In the front of the pack, there was a minor upset on the cards, as one of the rising stars of the 2014 season, junior Zach Seiger of Red Land defeated a big pack of seniors to become the Mid-Penn champion. His time of 16:02 was only 3 seconds better than Daniel Green of James Buchanan and 6 seconds better than 2013 runner up Zach Brehm of Carlisle.
For the girls, Cumberland Valley attempted to follow in the footsteps of their male counterparts after a big day at Paul Short last week. Mady Clahane did her part, making it look easy once again on her way to a successful Mid-Penn title defense. Clahane ran 18:29 to win by 40 seconds over the field. Her team's efforts to join Clahane at the top of the league came up narrowly short, missing out on team glory by just 4 points to new champions Chambersburg, 88-92. The champions were led by a 3rd place finish by Abby Yourkavich, who led five in the top 30 to edge out the win.

NTL Coaches Invitational
Northeast Bradford
Northeast Bradford came away with both the boys and girls team titles at their league championship meet on Saturday. The boys were comfortable winners, scoring 27 points thanks to having four of the top five finishers. Simon Smith of Towanda prevented a perfect five for five with his gold medal winning performance of 16:00, winning by nearly 50 seconds. For the girls, Northeast Bradford had a slightly tougher time, but were able to pull away from Wellsboro 41-60 to come away victorious. Lydia Werner (20:35) and Karli Moyer (20:41) finished 1-2 for the champions.

Ches-Mont Championships
West Chester Henderson
On a cool Columbus Day Monday, the competition was hot and fierce between Downingtown West and West Chester Henderson boys. Henry Sappey and Alex Knapp went head to head all the way to very end of the race, with Sappey of Downingtown West fighting off two Knapp surges to keep the Henderson star at bay. Sappey ran 16:20 to Knapp's 16:21. The team race was just as intense, as Henderson had four of the top nine finishers, only for D-Town West to take advanatage of a 26th place 5th runner to snag the team championship 44-48!
For the girls, Unionville ran their first invitational 5000 meter races to another league championship, defeating Great Valley 44-67. Olivia Young finished 3rd for the champions, behind individual winner Aislinn Devlin of Downingtown West (18:34) and Brooke Hutton of Coatesville (18:44).

Washington County Coaches Meet
Ethan Linderman of Canon-McMillan made it two victories in five days after earning a ten second victory over Noah Smith of Ringgold. Linderman ran 16:14.7, his 2nd fastest time of the season. His team also was victorious in the AAA title race over Peters Township 19-40. In the AA team race, Trinity (7) were team winners over Ringgold 50-71. For the girls, Morgan Grudi completed the Canon-McMillan individual title sweep, winning her race in 19:36. Her team, however, did come up 14 points short in the AAA title race to Peters Township, who used an 87 second spread to win 32-46. In AA, Washington defeated McGuffey 22-37. Girls Highlights

AACA Championships
Mount Saint Joseph Academy
Gwynedd-Mercy Academy survived a big scare from Mount St Joseph's in their league title race. The District 1 AA favorites had to fight off three top ten finishers for Mount St Joseph's by having five in the top 14 overall to Mount's five in the top 19 to win 44-48. Up front, fans saw the hot streak of Emma Seifried continue. The Country Day School of the Sacred Heart freshman won her 2nd big title race in 72 hours, taking home the gold medal in 18:34 and defeating AAA 800 meter bronze medalist Karli Visconto of Nazareth Academy in the process.

Jack Di Cintio of Wyomissing Area dualed with Jacob Connors of Wilson for county title honors by their lonesome, with Di Cintio edging out Connors by 5 seconds for the gold medal in 16:39. The team title race was comfortable for Twin Valley, as their pack running was big for them once again. They placed five in top 16 with a 35 second spread to score 39 points and defeat Wilson by 27. For the girls, Alison Willingmyre and her Wilson teammate were dominant on the day. WIllingmyre ran 19:23 to win the gold medal by over 40 seconds. Behind her, her teammates represented four in the top 7 to win the team title 29-71 over Governor Mifflin.

Eastern Pennsylvania Conference (EPC)
In the inaugural Eastern Pennsylvania Conference title race, combining the Lehigh Valley and Mountain Valley conferences, Colin Abert (16:01) and his teammate Kevin Lapsansky (16:25) completed a 1-2 sweep at the top of the boys race. The efforts from the rest of their teammates did enough to seal the team championship over Parkland 47-54, despite a sub 60 second spread from the runners up. For the girls, Raisa Kocmaruk of Liberty made a big push in the final 1000 meters to come from behind and defeat Colleen Daday of Allentown Central Catholic by under 3 seconds with a time of 19:26! Just like in the boys race, Easton and Parkland went head to head for the team title, only this time, Parkland came away 6 point winners, 80-86, over Easton, thanks to a 65 second spread from the champions.

Westtown School
Perennial girls champions Germantown Friends were given all they can handle against Friends Central on a windy Tuesday afternoon. After Sarah Walker paced the race early on for Germantown Friends, Gabrielle Wilkinson of Friends Central was right on her heels, wanting to make up for the tough Paul Short race. In the end, Wilkinson came away with the league title on the first time of asking with a winning time of 19:44.5. Her teammates finished well behind her, with her team representing five of the top 11. But the champions hung tough, running a 55 second spread with six top ten finishers to maintain the team title 26-30.
There was much less drama for the boys race, as Nick Dahl of Germantown Friends led a dominant performance by the champions, running 16:12.8 and leading five of the top six overall finishers to a 17-71 point win over hosts Westtown. Girls Highlights

Hempfield (3) showed what they are capable of when they are at their best, blowing away the field in the boys' title race. The team in red placed five in the top 11 overall with a 37 second spread to give them the championship by over 50 points. Nathan Henderson of J.P. McCaskey held off Duncan Brady of Hempfield (3) by 6 seconds with a time of 16:28 to win the individual gold medal. For the girls, Hempfield (3) completed the team title sweep, using a 64 second spread with three top ten finishers to score 61 points and win by 43. YAIAA Championships
AA boys state title contenders York Suburban were excellent in their league title race, placing five in the top ten with a spread of 35 seconds to cruise to the team title with 32 points. Aaron Gebart of New Oxford earned first league championship gold medal, running 16:11 to win by 25 seconds. For the girls, Kennard Dale completed a 1-2-3 sweep at the top, with champion Kayla White (19:25), Caitlin Salomon (19:34) and Maddie Ferner (19:36). Bicentennial Athletic League Championships
Holy Ghost Prep boys accounted for three of the top four finishers, including the top two spots from league champion John McLoughlin (17:04) and runner up Callahan Lennon (17:12) to cruise to the league champions with 32 points and a 70 second spread. For the girls, Caroline Harmon of Lower Moreland held off the challenge of Christopher Dock's Maddison Landis for the individual title with a time of 19:47 to win by just 3 seconds. Harmon's team had five in the top 16 overall to hold off Christopher Dock for the team title 37-44. |

A 49 second 1-5 spread by the Saucon Valley scoring five was just enough to take home the Colonial League championship a day after the meet was postponed due to rain. Saucon Valley's score of 94 points featured zero top ten runners, but they still earned a 2 point win over Bangor Area, who had three top ten finishers. Individual gold went to Kyle Gonoude of Salisbury, who was the lone sub 17 minute runner in the race with a time of 16:51.4. For the girls, Northwestern Lehigh got back to winning way, cruising to the team championship with nine runners between places 6 and 17, separated by just 67 seconds, while their 1-5 was separated by 47 seconds. Their score of 41 points was 18 points better than Southern Lehigh. Meseret Hart of Southern Lehigh won the individual championship with the only sub 20 minute time in the field, 19:50.6. |

Hanover Area
Dominic Hockenbury of Lake Lehman ran his first big invitational/championship race since the September 20 PIAA Foundation meet and he ran his best time since the opening day of the season. Through the rain, Hockenbury ran a season best 15:44 to defeat the Tunkhannock duo of Jack Tidball (16:04) and Jacob Toczko (16:28). Tunkhannock finished on the back end of a tight three team race for the title, as Berwick had four finishers in the top 20 to win the team title over Hazleton and their 65 second spread, and the 2-3 finish of Tidball and Toczko 80-87-89. For the girls, a 2-4 finish from Erin Rome (20:15) and Maggie Toczko (20:24) helped boost Tunkhannock to the team championship over Lake-Lehman 74-88. Freedom Invitational
Dominic Peretta of Beaver Falls got the better of Sewickley Academy's Griffin Mackey to take home the gold medal with a time of 16:56 to win by 14 seconds. The victory was Peretta's first of the season and 2nd in a row at this meet. Avonworth got their season back on track with a big win, using a 55 second spread and three top 15 finishers to score 72 points to win by 33 points over Hopewell. For the girls, Lauren Gronbeck of Eden Christian Academy cruised to her 2nd victory in her last three invitationals with a winning time of 19:55 to win by nearly a full minute. The team title chase was close, as Shady Side Academy survived a 68 second spread from Beaver Area to win the team title 73-78 with the help of two top ten finishers. |

Forest Hills
Central Cambria girls continued their incredible 2014 run with another dominant victory with their best 1-5 spread of the season. The Red Devils were once again led by a winning performance from Sydney Gilkey (18:46.3) and by a 36 second spread with the scoring five finishing in the top 8, with 19:22 representing the number 5 runner. The team scored 24 points to defeat Forest Hills by 45. For the boys, Will Kachman of Bedford earned his 3rd win of the season and his 4th top three finish with a time of 16:08.9 to win by 50 seconds. Central Cambria narrowly completed a sweep of the team titles, just edging out Somerset Area 57-66, thanks to having the first two team finishers and five finishers inside the top 15 team places. For the girls, Alyssa Limbaugh and her Penns Valley teammate completed the individual and team title sweeps. Limbaugh ran 20:59 and led three of the top five overall finishers in the race to score 29 points and win by nearly 30 points over Clearfield. |

A very tight team title race highlighted the boys championship race. Marion Center were the lone school with three top ten finishers and despite having the largest spread out of the top three, it was enough to bring home the team title over Ligonier Valley and Purchase Line 66-70-74. The individual gold medal went to 9th grader Sam Cunkleman of Homer Center, who ran 17:28 to win his first career high school cross country race! For the girls, Marion Center made the task of winning the team championship simpler than their male counterparts. The champions were led by a 1-2-3 finish at the top from champion Taya Whitfield (20:23), Emily Risinger, and Katelin Olson to score 20 points with an 86 second spread. |

Philadelphia Public League Championships
Swenson Arts & Technology
Julian DeGroot-Lutzner of Masterman led his squad back to the top of the Public League with five finishers in the top 13 to score 35 points and defeat Central by 31. DeGroot-Lutzner won the individual gold medal for the 2nd year in a row with a comfortable win of 16:46.7 to win by nearly 30 seconds.
For the girls, Claudia Ashworth of Masterman also repeated as Public League champion with a winning time of 20:07.6 to win by 18 seconds. Her Masterman teammates were pushed by Central for the league crown, but having five of the top ten team finishers was enough to hold off Central for the team title 26-41.

Pioneer Athletic Conference Champs
Paul Power of Spring Ford successfully defended his PAC 10 individual championship with a time of 16:10 to win by 29 seconds and earn his 2nd win of the season. His team finished 3rd in a tight team title race behind runners up Perkiomen Valley and champions Pottsgrove. Pottsgrove returned to their pack running ways, placing five in the top 18 with a 38 second spread, 3 seconds better than Perkiomen Valley, despite the runners up having three top ten finishers. Pottsgrove earned a 5 point win, 62-67 to improve from last year's runner up finish. For the girls, Perkiomen Valley ended up on the wrong end of another close team title finish. Despite having the top two overall finishers in champion Annie Glodek (19:25) and Michele Daniels (19:33), Owen J Roberts finished 7-8-9-10-11 with a state best spread of 9 seconds (20:04 to 20:13) to edge out their 3rd consecutive PAC 10 championship, 45-48. Jim Thorpe boys overcame a 49 second spread from runners up North Schuylkill with a 1-2-3 sweep at the front of the race! Champion Jonathan Condly (16:23), Dylan Bucior, and Jacob Saxon were the only sub 17 minute runners and they led their team to a league championship 45-87! For the girls, Blue Mountain were on cruise control as they had four of the top nine overall finishers and a 1-5 spread of 82 seconds to win the league championship with 41 points and win by nearly 70 points. The gold medal went to Tina Capparell of Marian Catholic, who made it look comfortable with a winning time of 19:29, winning by almost 45 seconds! Girls Highlights

North Allegheny's Matt McGoey and Madeleine Davison obliterated course records in registering convincing wins Thursday in the Tri-State Coaches Association championship meet. In the first race of the day at California University of Pennsylvania, McGoey quickly moved to the front of the Class AAA boys' field, towing along teammate Hunter Wharrey and Central Catholic's Jeff Van Kooten. McGoey once again had no equal, however, as he crossed the finish line in 15:55.20, well below the 17:02 by Mt. Lebanon's Alex Moran in 2011. Wharrey was second in 16:23.75, while Todd Gunzenhauser of Mt. Lebanon placed third in 16:35.47. Anthony Laurita of Morgantown (W.Va) was No. 4 across the finish line in 16:37.71, while Scott Seel of North Allegheny was fifth in 16:40.14. With its top three in the top five overall, John Neff's Tigers had a comfortable margin in the Class AAA team standings, finishing with 38 points and six runners in the top 20. Mt. Lebanon had a trio in the top 20 and was second with 80, while Morgantown claimed third with 147. The girls' AAA race also had a lead trio in the early going as Davison was shadowed by West Allegheny's Alexis O'Shea and Mt. Lebanon junior Kelsey Potts. Just as her NA teammate had done in the race before, Davison pulled away in course-record time, covering 5,000 meters in 17:59.62 to better the 19:04 that Potts ran on August 30. Potts was next in 18:48.12, while O'Shea was third in 19:12.48. Kiski Area junior Megan Aller finished fourth in 19:47.63, and Mt. Lebanon's Claire Dougherty was close behind in 19:48.37 as juniors claimed six of the first seven slots. The team championship was tight as the top two finishers gave their teams great starts. In the end, Potts and the Blue Devils prevailed over North Allegheny, 67-74, with Seneca Valley third at 121. In the AA/A girls' race, Riley Kwiatowski of Greensburg Salem withstood a late challenge from Uniontown senior Jade Bellotti. A sophomore, Kwiatowski clocked 19:39.97 for the victory, while Bellotti was second in 19:47.32 as the lead duo had almost 90 seconds on the rest of the field. In the team race, Meadville made the long trek down I-79 worthwhile, placing three in the top 10 en route to 44 points and the AA championship trophy. Uniontown was next with 61, followed by Greensburg Salem with 83. Seton-LaSalle was the A winner with 32. In the AA/A boys' race, Noah Smith of Ringgold pulled out the victory in the final mile, moving from third to first after the field had crested the course's major hill. A senior, Smith crossed the line in 16:56.62, while Waynesburg's Sean Hilverding was next in 17:02.95 and West Allegheny's Zack White was third in 17:05.20. SOL American Conference Championship Wissahickon swept both individual titles, as Lotte Black won the girls race in 19:13 to win by a comfortable 23 seconds, and Lukas Marcelis ran 16:39 to earn a 25 second victory in the boys race. Marcelis' performance led his team to the league title, with his team representing half of the top eight finishers to score 25 points and win by 28. Black's team had to settle for the 2nd team position, as Upper Dublin came away with the team title with a 4-5-6-8-9 finish with the top five finishing with a 59 second spread to score 25 points and win by 35.

SOL Continental Conference Championship The boys race was a head to head battle between two of District 1's top stars. Jake Brophy of Central Bucks East and Casey Comber of Hatboro Horsham were looking for a league title and a big boost of momentum heading into next week's district meet. In the end, Brophy snapped the five meet winning streak of Comber, but it took a lifetime best and PA#2 15:08 to get the job done! Comber ran his own lifetime best of 15:12 to earn PA#4 honors.
Brophy's effort up front was not enough to boost his Central Bucks East team to the league title against area rivals Central Bucks West. The Bucks had three top eight finishers and a 47 second spread to defeat the Patriots 43-57. For the girls, Central Bucks East got a little bit of redemption for their male counterparts, defeating CB West for the team title 48-61, with three top eight finishers and a 78 second spread. This was CB East's first win since their home invitational back on September 6. Marissa Sheva of Pennridge kept her unbeaten season alive with a comfortable victory in 18:19, 40 seconds better than Maddie Villalba of CB West.

SOL National Conference Championship Pennsbury girls made their return to the Lehigh cross country course after a close call victory over Cardinal O'Hara at the Paul Short Run two weeks ago. This time around, they put together a perfect performance, with their varsity seven finishing in the top seven overall places to score a perfect 15 points! Olivia Sargent led the way with the win in 18:07, and her team finished with an 85 second 1-5 spread with six 19:40 performances or better.
For the boys, it was a much closer chase for the team title, with favorites Pennsbury being edged out for the team title by Council Rock North 44-46, thanks to a 39 second spread for CR North vs 58 seconds for Pennsbury. Sam Webb did win the race with a time of 15:49, making him the 34th sub 16 minute performer in the state this season.

Central League Championships
Conestoga boys and girls came away as champions, with the boys squad getting back on track, while the girls had to grind out a victory. The boys were led by a 1-2 finish from Andrew Marston (16:09.3) and Killian Nelson (16:28.6) at the front, and behind them, the team had two more top ten finishers, and six in the top 20 to score 31 points with a 62 second spread to get a good win heading into next week's district meet.
The girls race was a battle from the start between Conestoga and Strath Haven. The top three from both teams were looking for an advantage heading into next week, as both squads are contenders for one of the five District 1 state qualifying spots. Strath Haven put a 1-3-6 finish up from with Maia Mesyngier winning the race in 19:11.2. Conestoga went 2-4-10, but had their #4 and #5 inside the top 20, while Strath Haven trailed that duo, which was enough for Conestoga to win the title 50-55.

Youngsville Harbor Creek boys had a 1-2 finish up front from winner Christian Babo (17:08) and Noah Mandel, but it was not enough to bring home the team title, as they finished level on points with Corry for 2nd place, ten points behind champions Seneca. Seneca were the only team in the race to have four top ten finishers (3-6-9-10) compared to their nearest challengers and their two top ten marks. For the girls, North East were led once again by their excellent freshman Raechel White, who finished 2nd to champion Leigh Fehlman (21:49) by two seconds, to secure the team title over Youngsville 39-69. Joelle Klein, Megan Martin, and Kate McIntosh also finished in the top ten for the winners.

A gold medal performance from Andrew Maxwell of Slippery Rock Area (16:35.9) was the only thing stopping Grove City from achieving a perfect score. The AA state title contenders took the next five places behind the winner with a 1-5 spread of 33 seconds (16:39 to 17:12) to cruise to the county title with 20 points.
For the girls, Grove City had a tougher time trying to win their county championship, as Hickory proved to be a great challenger. Hickory had a 2-4-5 team finish led by Lexi Bible, compared to the 1-6-11 from Grove City's top 3. However, Grove City's next two finished in the top 20 team places to pull away from Hickory and win the title 55-62. Individual honors went to Jordan Williams of Sharon, who ran 19:59.4 to win by close to 7 seconds.

Philadelphia Catholic League Championships
24 hours after the Pennsbury girls won the Suburban One National team title with a perfect score, Cardinal O'Hara matched their performance with a perfect score of their own. The champions were led by a 19:35 performance from Liz Mancini at the top. Their 1-5 spread improved once again on Saturday, recording a 25 second spread from their scoring five, and a 28 second spread from 1-6! Kayla Connelly of Lansdale Catholic prevented a perfect 1-7 finish. For the boys, Cardinal O'Hara were able to complete a 1-2-3 sweep at the top led by retaining champion Kevin James (16:22) and Ryan James (16:30). Their 1-5 spread was their best this season (45 seconds) as they had five in the top 11 to score 24 points and retain the championship by 21 points over Lasalle. Girls Highlights

Taylor Allderdice swept the top individual and team honors Saturday as the Pittsburgh City League (District 8) championship meet kicked off the post-season run toward Hershey. Allderdice teammatesDighan Kelly and Meredith Tipper were the pacesetters in the girls' race at Schenley Park, tackling the course together for the opening two miles. A junior, Kelly eventually pulled away to victory, covering the 5,000 meters in 20:20.96, while Tipper was second in 20:29.56. Allderdice occupied five of the first six slots as the Dragons finished with 16 points to claim the District 8 team spot in Hershey. Obama Academy was next with 54, while Carrick had 67. In the boys' race, another Dragon duo -- senior Floyd Nichols and freshman Tavonne Davis -- was at the front throughout the 5K. It wasn't until late in the final loop on the Schenley Oval that Nichols was able to gain an edge, reaching the chute first in 17:18.15 to the 17:22.02 for Davis. Carrick's Ryan and Zach Wierzchowski broke up a run of Allderdice finishers, crossing in 17:28.04 and 17:40.39 for third and fourth, respectively. Five of the next six in the chute were Dragons. Inter-Ac League Championships
Springside Chestnut Hill Academy
The chase for the girls team championship was as close as it can get, as the top four teams were separated by 14 points, the top three by 7 points, and the top two by just 2 points. The team that emerged victorious was Episcopal Academy, as three top ten finishers was enough to win the title despite having their number 5 runner finish 9 places behind runner up Agnes Irwin's number 5. Episcopal finished with 54 points to win by two over Agnes Irwin. Germantown Academy had two of the top four, including champion Abbie Goldstein (19:45.6) to finish 3rd with 61 points. Springside Chestnut Hill was 4th with 68 points.
The boys race was another championship display by state number 1 Malvern Prep, despite not having the services of Jaxson Hoey. Malvern finished with four top nine finishers and six top 15 finishers to cruise to the team title with 33 points. Sam Ritz of Germantown Acadmey ran 16:00.3 to win the individual gold medal.
