10/25 PA Independent Schools Championships

Malvern Prep boys went for a repeat Independent School state title without the services of Jaxson Hoey due to injury. But the team rose to the occasion, led by a 2-3 finish from Jaxson's brother Josh and Billy McDevitt, and a 3rd runner in the top ten to just edge out Germantown Friends to the team title 48-54. Sam Ritz of Germantown Friends won the gold medal after two straight 2nd place finishes, running 16:01 to win by ten seconds.

For the girls, Germantown Friends held off the challenge of Friends league rivals Friends Central to retain their Independent School state title 51-67. The Lady Tigers had five in the top 15 team places with a spread of 48 seconds, the best in the meet. Terri Turner of Springside Chestnut Hill found the energy in the final 100 meters to knock off Abbie Goldstein of Germantown Academy and win her first Independent School title in 20:02.5.
