Easterns Proves Fruitful For Handful Of New Yorkers

The Armory, NYC - The Eastern State Champs may have come with an extra dosage of snow, but the fields still produced some scorching times for those who braved the storms.  Check out some of the highlights below.

 

Rai Benjamin of Mount Vernon hit NY #4 All-Time in winning the 200m in 21.37

 

Fordham Prep went US #2 in the DMR, with their 10:18.24.   Their splits were 3:05, 51.7, 1:58.4, 4:22
 


Brenessa Thompson of Medgar Evers tied the national leader in the 55m with a 6.93

 

Medgar Evers later came back to the 4x200m, to win in 1:40.22, without running Thompson

 

Mount Vernon took second in the 4x200m, with a 1:29.21

 

Luke Gavigan of Tappan Zee would go State Leading in the 800m, with his 1:54.12

 

Emma Gallagher of Cardozo would go NY #2 in the 800m with her 2:13.90, winning outright

 

Luke Germanokos of Lynbrook took second in the 400m, through the crowded field in NY #3, 48.91

 

Paul Robeson took second in both the girls and boys 4x400m, behind Union Catholic of NJ

 

Derek Alvez and George Kochman of the Staten Island Advance received their awards for Contributions to Track and Field Journalism
