The PennTrackXC.com Retired Coaches Series: Jay Williams

For years, we have been looking for a way to both honor retired coaches, and to share some of their knowledge and stories of the sport. While the PennTrackXC Retired Coaches Series is a beginning, we hope it can grow. If you have ideas, or are or know a retired coach, please share our questionnaire (click here to download the PDF). If the coach simply wants to answer the questions and email to don@penntrackxc.com, or would like to talk about their careers, we simply want to here their stories.

The first retired coach is from my home district, Haverford Township. Jay Williams ran for Villanova under Jumbo Elliott, and coached for a year in New Jersey before his 34-year career at Haverford. In the interest of full disclosure, he was my son's coach, and was the major reason he medaled in cross country at states in 1997.
