Big Weekend Slated for Indoor Meets!

Knoch, Pa. junior Jordan Geist comes to Ohio often.  He will be at Youngstown State this weekend and at the Milesplit Scholastic Showcase at Spire on Feb. 13th.  Last weekend he threw a US #1 and US #5 All-Time in the Shot Put with a throw of 71-2.5.

The OATCCC Indoor State Meet is just five weekends away including this weekend.  Expect the rankings to continue to change as we are midway through this years indoor season.  On Saturday, Cedarville, Oberlin and Ohio State are all hosting meets.  On Sunday, Youngstown State, Mount Union and Marietta host competitions. Too many athletes to highlight or spotlight at all of the meets, but Saturday's largest meet is at OSU where Andrew Jordan of Watkins Memorial is making his indoor debut in the 1600 .  Also at OSU, watch for Abby Stiener in the 60, as she leads a field with two other girls under 8.00 - Shae Douglas of Pickerington Central and Ivy McKee of Gahanna Lincoln. Tyler Johnson of Stivers and Devahn Jackson Of Pickerington Central may go head to head in the 60.

At Mt. Union, Jacob Coates of JFK Warren is slated to run in the 60 and 200, along with Jake Wickey of Medina who will be in the Weight Throw.

The largest meet on Sunday is the Youngstown State meet. In the girls 4x800 Centerville and Beaumont will go head to head.  In the 1,600, Maplewood's Tristan Dahmen makes his indoor debut and on the girls side, Ashley Ruliston of Beaumont, the #2 ranked 3,200 runner in the State, is running the 1,600.  Perhaps the best competition of the weekend will be in the Boys Shot and Weight Throw where in the Shot,  US#1 and US #5 All-Time, Jordan Geist of Knoch, PA (71-2.5) goes up against US #6 Ben Peterson of Solon (62-11.5), and in the WT, US #6, 8 and 9 will go at it.  Geist is ranked 6th with a toss of 72-8.  Brent Fairbanks of Austintown Fitch is #8 with a 70-7 and his teamate, Logan Kusky is #9 with a 70-5.

It will be a very busy weekend for Ohio T&F athletes.  Check for your results and ranking updates here on Ohio MileSplit.
