Jordan Geist has taken record breaking to a completely different level ... and it's not even Valentine's Day.

In one of the most dominant high school seasons in indoor track history, the Knock junior has obliterated Pennsylvania's record and soared up the all-time national list. On Thursday, Geist broke the national junior class record and is now US#3 AT indoors, reaching 72 feet, 8.75 inches in a throws and vertical jumps meet at Hempfield Area.

"It feels awesome being No. 3 all-time as well as getting the national junior class record," said Geist, who has raised the state indoor mark by almost 4 feet this season and is US#7 when combining the all-time indoor and outdoor lists.

After an opener of 66-11, Geist moved quickly through the circle and into the record books with his new PR. The throw eclipsed the 71-5 class record toss by New Jersey's Nick Vena in 2010, leaving just Oregon's Ryan Crouser and California's Brent Noon still atop the all-time indoor list.

He closed out the prelims at 69-8 before registering throws of 68-10, 70-10 and 69-0 in the finals. On the year, Geist has now topped 70 feet a total of eight times.

"SPIRE will be exciting throwing with some great throwers and hopefully try to break the state record three times in one week," the junior said of Saturday's Scholastic Showcase in Ohio as he looks to wrap up a week that started with a 71-4.5 on Sunday at Youngstown State.

Later in the evening, Geist won the weight throw, hitting 71-6 to top 70 feet for the third time ever in that event but the first time over 70 in both disciplines at the same meet.
