Just like the 100 meters, Thelma Davies of Girard College will look to dethrone another state champion from last year. Neumann Goretti's Sydni Townsend won the AA 200 meter state title as a freshman last year. Townsend enters the race as PA AA #4, though, and Davies, after dropping a 23.98 at districts, is seen as the favorite.

Townsend has been under the radar for most of this season, only running in a couple of meets, but you can never count out a state champ. Burrell's Nicole Scherer ran a huge PR of 24.24 at the District 7 Championships and she could be the one to provide the best challenge to Davies. Hunter Robinson of Avonworth was second to Scherer at districts, and the sophomore, along with her sister Hayden, are factors as well. Look out for Paul Robeson's Jameela Muhammad and Seton LaSalle's Raja Rutherford as well.
