The AA 400 meters will be without its defending champion. Andy Snyder of Camp Hill did not qualify for the quarter mile at states this year out of a tough district (though he is in the 200). This leaves the door open for a new champion, and boy, is it an open field.

The top-ranked runner in the field is Brookville's Ryan Thrush, one of the year's breakthrough athletes. He easily won the District 9 title in the event, but he'll be doubling in the 800 meters and it's never an easy double to pull off.

Imhotep's Ade Jones-Roundtree, the indoor 60 meter champion comes in as PA AA #3 in the event. Along with presumably the 4x100, this will be Jones-Roundtree's only event. Neumann Goretti's Miles Brewer has been right there with him, though. Expect the District 12 rivals to go neck-and-neck this weekend.

Avonworth's Kenny Baurle is the top seed in the event after winning the District 7 crown in the event with a 49.57. Tulpehocken's Andrew Rissler will look to get in the mix as well in what should be a close race.
