Girls' New Balance Nationals Indoor Pennsylvania Preview

Girls' Relays Preview

4x1 Mile Relay

Fresh off their thrilling win in the DMR at indoor states, Perkiomen Valley will change it up some for nationals and contest the 4x1 mile relay. The other notable teams in this field include Corning (NY), Lake Braddock (VA), and Milton (MA).

4x200 Meter Relay

The Cheltenham girls had one number on their minds after winning the PA state title and breaking the state meet record: 1:47. They'll be chasing a sub-1:48 time this weekend in the 4x2. The Panthers have run 1:38.93 this season (back in January) and could be in line to break the all-time PA mark of 1:38.64 held by Cheltenham circa 2015. North Penn, which ran 1:41.46 to take third at the indoor state meet, is also entered.

4x400 Meter Relay

Penn Wood took down the long-standing state meet record at the indoor state meet last week and the quartet will go after more at NBNI. They smoked a US#5 3:49.25 at states and will look to drop that time even more. A couple of southern powerhouses, Bullis and Western Branch, are also in the field. Bullis has run a US#1 3:44.44 this season. The Baldwin School, which ran a US#16 3:54.25 in January is also in the field.

4x800 Meter Relay

Last year, North Penn ran 9:05.98 at NBNI to break CB South's indoor state record in the event. It looks like they'll attempt to break that record again this weekend in the 4x8. Uche Nwogwugwu (the 400 meter state champ) will run on the relay, which is different from the team's state champion squad.

The Baldwin School, which took third at states in 9:21.70, and Greater Latrobe, which took fifth at states in 9:25.79 are also entered.

Sprint Medley Relay

Penn Wood was second at NBNI to the Sammy-Watson anchored Rush Henrietta squad in the SMR. This year, Penn Wood will be looking to move up one spot from the runner-up spot into first. We'll likely see Terri Turner, who has run 2:08 for the 800 meters on the anchor leg for Penn Wood.

Distance Medley Relay

Cardinal O'Hara is the lone PA entry in the DMR. The squad will include three Mancini sisters and Jesikah Boykin. The favorites in this field look to be the girls from Shenendahowa and North Rockland, both from New York.
