PTXC REWIND: Looking Back On Austin Kratz's PA Track Classic Double

At last year's season opener, Dock Mennonite's Austin Kratz made a big statement to start off his outdoor season. Kratz, then a sophomore, took wins in both the 100 meters and 200 meters, at the Pennsylvania Track Classic at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School.

Kratz first won the 100 meters in a time of 11.13., running away from the field for the victory. Watch that final below:

Then Kratz took the track for the 200 meters. Kratz had a good challenge on his outside from Harry S. Truman's Sayyid Saunders, but Kratz held him off for the win in a time of 22.35. Watch that race below and check out an interview with Kratz above.

This was a good start to what ended up being a great season for Kratz. He won the AA 200 meters at the PIAA Track & Field State Championships and took second in the 100 meters.

The PA Track Classic will be one of many season opening meets set for this weekend. Kratz is slated to appear and he will have a good shot to pull of a similar winning effort. PTXC will be on-site at Plymouth Whitemarsh. Be sure to follow along with the action.
