Don Wilhour Selinsgrove Classic - Meet Preview

BOYS' PREVIEW

Three-time Class AAA state champion in the 100 meters, Jahvel Hemphill returns to the track for the first time since last spring. Hemphill is looking to complete a four-peat in the 100 meters.

After a strong first meet that saw him win a pair of events, Williamsport's Qayyim Ali is back at it this weekend. Ali is the top seed in the high jump--his main event--and the long jump.

In the throws, watch for the Selinsgrove duo of Keith Dreese and Brennen Wolf. Dreese is the top seed in the shot put, while Wolf is the top seed in the discus.

Loyalsock's Quinn Serfass is the top seed in the 1600 and 3200 meters, in what should be a big day for him.

GIRLS' PREVIEW

Saturday is the season debut of Mount Carmel's Maura Fiamoncini. The senior and Bucknell signee won the Class AA state title last spring in the javelin and may have even bigger things in store for this season. The road to states starts this weekend for her.

Selinsgrove's Piper Klinger threw the early season state lead in the discus. She'll look to keep that going through this weekend. She's the top seed in the event on Saturday. She's also entered in the shot put, where the top seed is Shamokin Area's Alyssa Lahr.

Selinsgrove's Megan Hoffman will be the one to watch in the sprints. She's the top seed in the 100 meters and the 200 meters, but she'll be challenged by Central Columbia's Hannah Klingerman. Selinsgrove's Sara Arbogast will be the one to watch in the 400 meters, looking to dip under the minute mark again. Arbogast is also the top seed in the triple jump.

Marian Catholic's Tina Capparell is the top seed in the 1600 meters, while the 800 meters will be a good matchup between Selinsgrove's Hannah Grove and Hughesville's Autumn Avery. Selinsgrove's Brittney Carnathan will be the top seed in the 3200 meters.
