South Fayette Invitational - MEET RECAP

GIRLS' RECAP

Obama Academy's Raven Haston had a strong invitational opener. Haston won the 100 meters in a PA#5 12.17 and then came back to win the 200 meters in 25.53, proving she should be a factor once again this season at the state level. South Fayette's Rachel Helbling claimed a win on her home track in the 400 meters, winning in a time of 57.03, which is a PA#9.

Upper Saint Clair's Savannah Shaw won the 1600 meters in a close race with Oakland Catholic's Lauren Finikiotis. Finikiotis won the 1600 at Westmoreland the day before. Shaw's time was 5:02.37, a PA#7, while Finikiotis ran a PA#9 5:03.10. Shaw then returned to win the 800 meters in 2:23.54. In the 3200 meters, New Brighton's Alyssa Campbell won in 11:36.82.

Oakland Catholic's Jayla Ellis picked up a pair of wins in the hurdles. Ellis went 14.63 (PA#7) to win the 100 hurdles and then also won the 300 hurdles in 46.65. Ellis then jumped 18-1 to take first in the long jump.

Maura Huwalt of South Park won the discus (131-2) and the javelin (118-7). Penn Hills' Lillia Allen won the shot put with a throw of 40-6. South Fayette's Courtney Phoennik jumped 36-10.25 to win the triple jump.

BOYS' RECAP

Bethel Park junior James Krandel posted a nice PR in the 100 meter dash, winning in a PA#6 time of 10.85. Jermaine Younger, of Pittsburg Central Catholic, won the 200 meters in 22.36, while Penn Hills' Brennon Hill was first across in the 400 meters in a time of 50.70. Penn Hills also ran well in the 4x400, winning in a time of 3:25.73.

Gary Raymond of South Park took a pair of wins in the hurdles, running 15.16 in the 110 hurdles and 40.76 in the 300 hurdles, completing a strong day.

Penn Hills' Isaiah Bailey won the 800 meters in 1:58.75 and also took second in the 1600 meters. The winner of that 1600 was Taylor Allderdice's Amadou Diallo in a time of 4:28.49. South Fayette's Aaron Pfeil ran a time of 9:51.85. South Fayette ran 8:10.91 to win the 4x800 meter relay.

New Brighton's Anthony Milliner had his second jump over 47 feet in as many meets, winning the triple jump with a leap of 47-0.25. Earlier in the week, he jumped 47-6.5 win the MAC title. Rodney Thomas of Pittsburgh Central Catholic jumped 21-11.75.

Upper Saint Clair's James Pollock had a nice toss in the shot put, winning with a throw of 52-6. South Fayette's Sam Mastro was second in the shot, but he won the discus with a throw of 165-7, a day after taking eighth at the Penn Relays in the event. Noah Drudy of Hopewell won the javelin with a toss of 178-9.
