Stan Morgan Invitational - MEET PREVIEW

GIRLS' PREVIEW

Ty'Asia Dansbury of Harrisburg and Yasmin Brooks of Susquehanna Township are both ladies to watch in the sprints this weekend at Carlisle. They are the top two seeds in the 100m dash. Dansbury is ranked #3 in the state in the 100m, but Brooks should be tough competition with the speed she displays in her main event: the 100m hurdles.

Brooks is PA #2 in the 100m hurdles and will run this event as well this weekend. Also in this race is Carlisle's Najae Nickerson. Nickerson and Brooks will be two to watch in the 300m hurdles later in the day. Nickerson is the top seed in the 300m hurdles and expect Taylor Jede of Cumberland Valley to be up toward the front.

Dansbury will return later in the meet to run the 200m and 400m as the top seed. She has run 24.56 this season in the 200m and is ranked PA #2. Susannah Auderset of Maryland's Urbana High School will also be one to watch in the 400m. Bloomsburg's Sage Harmon will also look to break 59 seconds.

Freshman Taryn Parks of Greencastle-Antrim currently holds the fastest time in the 1600m in the state, so certainly watch for her in that event this weekend. She will come back in the 800m to face some competition from some of the state's best middle distance runners like McConnellsburg's McKenzie Gelvin. Gelvin is the top seed in the 800m in 2:14.59 (PA #3). Expect Meg Lebo of Carlisle to also be at the front of that race on her home track.

Chambersburg's Abby Yourkavitch set a fast time 2 weeks ago at Shippensburg in the 3200m and she comes back as the number one seed this weekend. She is currently ranked 3rd in the state.

The javelin will be exciting with PA #3 Madisen Kling of Red Lion throwing this weekend. Delia Sipe of Urbana (MD) is the second seed in Javelin, but the top seed in shot put.

Do not miss the high jump where PA's #1 high jumper Ariel Jones of Cedar Crest will go after some big heights again this weekend. Jones has jumped 5 ft. 7.5 inches, how high will she jump on Saturday?

Another big performer will Maura Fiamoncini of Mount Carmel Area in the the javelin. She has thrown 160 feet even thus far this season and is currently ranked PA #2.

Sarah Lehman from Cumberland Valley is the top seed in the long and triple jump.

BOYS' PREVIEW

Expect to see some good competition in the 100m dash this weekend at Stan Morgan. Jahvel Hemphill of Bloomsburg is the top seed going into the weekend. However, expect Ronald Kent of Harrisburg and Prince Gaye of Carlisle to also be upfront pushing the pace.

Kent will return in the 200m and face some competition from Jerome Jessup of Red Lion and Alec Truett and James Buchanan.

In the 400m, look for Chase Ebersole of Cumberland Valley. Ebersole won the 400m at the Ship Invite in two weeks ago, and will look to do the same at Stan Morgan as the top seed.

In the 3200m, some of the best of District III will be racing for fast times. Look for a top pack with Lower Dauphin's Kyler Shea, Mechanicsburg's Alex Tomasko and Morgan Cupp, and Cedar Crest's Jake Barrett.

Sam Affolder (Carlisle) / Photo by Bill Shearn

In the boys 1600m, Carlisle's Sam Affolder will race the top seed Dalton Hengst of McDonogh School (Maryland). Hengst is fresh off a win at the Penn Relays in the mile. Tomasko and Cupp will come back from the 3200m and most likely be in the top group of runners. Also, expect Jesse Cruise of Cedar Crest and Cumberland Valley's Yahya Soliman to be pushing the pace.

Affolder, Cruise, and Soliman will come back to race the 800m. Another Carlisle mid-distance standout will join them, Isaac Kole.

In the 110 high hurdles, Richard Gilchrist of Harrisburg is the top seed going into Stan Morgan.

In discus and shot, watch for Chambersburg's Kelton Chastulik to be posting top throws (PA #3 in shot).  Watch for Josh Eidemiller of Lampeter Strasburg to throw well in the javelin. Not far behind Eidemiller will be Anthony Moser of Mount Carmel.
