AA Girls' 3200m Preview
Sophomore Christina Difalco of Pine Grove Area is the top seed in the 3200 meters this weekend for AA girls with a time of 10:55.64. From freshman to sophomore year, Difalco has dropped some serious time from last year where at this meet she was 20th in a season best of 11:55.63. Difalco has run a personal best of 10:50.60 this year, almost a minute faster. After a successful cross season, where she took second in the state in Class A, she will certainly be a favorite to win.
The second seed is Oley Valley's Rebecca Snyder, who was 3rd overall in the AA cross championships last fall. Snyder is coming off a successful triple at the District 3 championships where she won the 3200 meters, 1600 meters, and the 800 meters in AA. She has run a season best of 10:55.25 and will certainly have people to run with this weekend.
Returning champion Marianne Abdalah of Vincentian Academy, has won this event the last two years. She is PA#2 entering the weekend. Abdalah has some speed, as she did break 5 to win the 1600 meters last weekend in District 7. The senior will look to end her high school career with a final win.
Maddie McLain of Eastern York and senior Rebecca Bierly of Penns Valley will be two to watch as well. Finishing within a second of one another in XC last fall, the two girls will battle again in the 3200m as the 4th and 5th seed.
Country Day of the Sacred Heart's Emma Seifried was last year's runner up and has a PR of just under 11 minutes. Expect her to be in the top pack as well.
