AA Girls' High Jump Preview
Lydia Bottelier of Palisades has the PA#1 jump having cleared 5-8 this season. She narrowly got second at indoor states against the entire state and will be looking for gold in AA at Ship. She is definitely the favorite to win. As a freshman last year, Bottelier was fourth in AA, so she is no stranger to the pressure it takes to perform at the state level.
Two ladies will be her challengers having both jumped 5-5 this season, Athens Area's Emily Lunger and Blair Knuckle of Bishop McDevitt. Knuckle is also a returning medalist.
Don't count out Bottelier's Palisades teammate Alexa Parks. She was third a year ago, and while she's battled injuries this outdoor season, the Penn State recruit could be a factor.
Look for Shady Side's Lindsey Grune to make it to the final heights as well. Many AA jumpers around the state have jumped 5 ft. 4 in. this season. Those looking for medals in that group will be Loyalsock's Maddie Fox, Penn Cambria's Lauren Michina, Juniata's Sydney Sheaffer, Cambria Heights's Madison Kline, and Holy Redeemer's Nicole Kerestes.
