Today, we salute Madisyn Hawkins of James M. Coughlin. The pole vault specialist just completed a great career in the event. She finished out with a PR of 12-8, which she jumped at the Pole Vault Summit in Reno, Nevada. She had a great outdoor senior season, highlighted by a victory at the Penn Relays, where she jumped 12-7.5 for the win. She also broke the PIAA District 2 meet record with a jump of 12-6 before placing seventh in the state in AAA.

Throughout the end of June and through July we we be honoring our graduating seniors. To submit your own questionnaire to be posted on the front page of PennTrackXC, check out this page and email your responses to Dan Beck (daniel.beck@flosports.tv).

What was your most memorable race/competition?
My most memorable competition was the Penn Relays 2017.

Where did you face your biggest competition?
I faced my biggest competition at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals 2017.

Out of all of your high school accomplishments, which stands out the most?
My accomplishment that stands out the most would be when I won the pole vault at the Penn Relays.

If you could do it all over again, what would you change about your athletic career in high school?
If I could change anything I think I would have tried more events, otherwise I enjoyed my high school track career and would not change a thing.

What will you miss the most?

I am going to miss my teammates the most and all the friends I've created in the past four years.

Do you have any advice for younger athletes?

To younger athletes I would say to not be so hard on yourself, you won't always have a great meet or competition but always keep your head up.

How have your coaches influenced your performances and your life goals overall?

My high school coach has pushed me to be the best I could be and I would not be where I am today if it wasn't for him. Also, my club coach has taught me everything necessary to succeed and to believe in myself.

What are your post-high school plans?

I plan to continue my track career and my academics at Lehigh University.

Shout-Outs?

I would like to say thank you for my family for being there for me and for driving me to and from all of my practices. Also, I would like to thank all my supporters who pushed me throughout my high school career.
