Team Breakdown: PIAA District 6 Girls

D6-AA Girls - Team Breakdown

Central Cambria made the move to Class AA from Class A last season, but it was the same result: a District 6 title. The Red Devils went on to take fourth at the state meet, and it will be looking for a similar result against plenty of talented AA squads.

Central Cambria returns four of seven from a team that was pretty closely packed last fall and had a number of different #1 runners throughout the season. Look for the likes of Paige Wess, Carly Kaschalk, and Kacy McKeel to lead the way this season. Wess was fourth at districts last year.

A team looking to challenge Central Cambria for that one state qualifying spot is Forest Hills, the hosts of the district meet. Forest Hills was second last year in the district and returns five of seven from last year, led by Emily Montag. The team will need to move its front pack further up in the field if it wants to challenge for the D6 crown.

Somerset Area returns six of seven from last year's third place team and will look to get in the hunt. Penns Valley Area and Bedford are on the outside looking in for now, but both have some young returners that could be them in the mix as well.
