Team Breakdown: PIAA District 6 Boys

D6-A Boys - Team Breakdown

Penns Valley has been the class of 1A in District 6 the past three years, and it will go for a fourth straight title this year. Penn Valley will enter this season with a fleet of rising senior boys, ready to close out their high school careers on a high note. It brings back six of seven from last year's squad that placed ninth in the state. Five of those returners (including the entire top four) will be seniors.

Reigning district champ Chris Colwell and runner-up Mark Bierly will lead the way, along with Sam Gray. Colwell wound up 21st at states.

Purchase Line was second to Penns Valley last fall, but it loses two from a strong top four. It will look for some runners to emerge alongside Micah Kurka and Alex Boring for next year if it wants a return trip to Hershey.

Just missing the state meet last year was Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy. The Wolves were 16 points off Purchase Line. It loses top runner and state qualifier Michael Peters, but returns Isaac Hyman, who qualified for states last year as just a freshman last fall. With a good group of young returners, SJCA will have a good shot at making states this year.

Marion Center returns all seven from a varsity team that had four freshman on it last fall. Look for them to make some noise. Bishop McCourt and Westmont Hilltop will also try and sneak into the conversation this season in Class A.
