Team Breakdown: PIAA District 6 Boys

D6-AAA Boys - Team Breakdown

The State College Area boys strung together yet another strong season in 2016, winning its fourth straight District 6 Class AAA crown and taking seventh at states. The Little Lions lose the reigning individual D6 champ Nick Feffer (11th at states) and runner-up Owen Wing.

The role of team leader will fall upon Owen Isham, who had a great sophomore season last year for State College. Mitchell Etter, who missed the latter half of last XC season with an injury, showed some great signs and should be a valuable contributor. He ended up winning the 3200 meters in District 6 this past spring.

But Mifflin County will be looking to supply a challenge to the champs. Mifflin was second last season, but was led by a young top three. Chayce Macknair, a rising junior, is fresh off a good spring and seems primed to lead this squad, along with rising junior Seth Phillips and rising sophomore Chase Sheaffer.

It should be an interesting battle to watch this season between these two squads as they battle for mid-state supremacy and jut one state qualifying spot. Altoona Area will also look to mix it up near the front this season.
