Somerset Area re-entered District 5 before the start of last season, and the boys in orange dominated the three-team district classification last season. Dominic Mazzariello and Cejay Walker took the first two spots at districts, and then Somerset took spots 5-6-7 to win. Jacob Groger was fifth as a sophomore last season.
Walker had a great race at states last fall, placing 42nd in Class AA. With him and Mazzariello leading the way, Somerset will be favored to take home the district crown for a second straight season. After that, it will try and improve on its 19th place finish at Hershey from last season.
Bedford returns Garret Cornell and Alex Calhoun to the squad this season. They placed third and fourth, respectively, at districts last year.
