Team Breakdown: PIAA District 2 Boys

D2-A Boys - Team Breakdown

Montrose entered Class A last season with an exclamation point, scoring just 23 points and winning the District 2 team title by an incredible 46 points. Montrose took the top three spots and showed off its depth, placing its entire top seven in the top 12 of the district. At states, Montrose took fifth overall as a team.

So what does 2017 have in store for this team in its second season in Class A? Brandon Curley returns from that dominant top three, and Liam Mead, Max Brewer, and Jerome Washo are also back. A repeat performance at districts and states is certainly in the cards, especially if some JV runners from last season rise to the occasion on varsity.

Elk Lake was second last year, and it returns a solid group to the line this season. Cody Oswald and Peyton Jones were fifth and sixth at districts, respectively, last fall and then finished one after the other at states. Some other varsity runners will need to bridge the gap to Oswald and Jones for Elk Lake to challenge Montrose for the lone team state qualifying spot.

Lakeland, Holy Cross, and Mountain View all return some young runners that will try and improve to prevent another Montrose runaway this season.
