Team Breakdown: PIAA District 2 Boys

D2-AA Boys - Team Breakdown

For a second straight year, we saw the Dallas boys on top of the podium in Hershey, as it hoisted another state title. With six of seven boys back this fall, it probably didn't take long for Dallas to start thinking about a three-peat.

Dallas has the kid of lineup that should bode well in championship season. Jack Zardecki will pace the way. He was seventh at states last season and is coming off a solid spring. After his low stick, Dallas will have a good pack. Seniors Josh Wyandt and Adam Borton and junior Mitchell Rome were separated by just 13 seconds at states last year. If a fifth can step up, it will be very hard for a team to threaten them. York Suburban will be a formidable foe, though, and it should be one of the great battle to keep an eye on.

Holy Redeemer will be a strong team again. It loses Aaron hoda, its top finisher from districts last year, but returns five from the team that placed tenth at states and second at districts. Bryce Zapusek will be a solid team leader, along with fellow junior Lucas Volpetti.

Berwick was just three points outside state qualifying position last year, but it will try again this fall. It loses two from a very strong top four, so some runners will have to step up to give Berwick a shot at the top two in the district.

Scranton Prep, Tunkhannock, and Crestwood could have some sleeper potential this season, but don't forget about them. But all will be chasing Dallas as it goes for another district and state title.
