D7-AA Girls - Individuals Breakdown

The fight is one for the top spot for the girls' in the WPIAL's Class AA. The top three from last year's district meet---Anna Pawloski, Mica Hanish, and Riley Kwiatkowski---have all graduated and now the door is open for some new individuals to make some noise this fall.

While we already went over the top teams in D7-AA, the battle for the individual title could have some teamwork involved. The defending champs from Quaker Valley have a trio of returners that could contend for the top individual prize. Lucie Kubinski earned a third straight WPIAL XC top five last season, taking fourth overall. Her consistency could pay off in the form of a victory this fall. Annie Wicker was impressive as a freshman. She was sixth at districts last year, and even clocked a 5:05 1600 meter on the track to grab a state medal in the spring. Audrey Durbin is another one to watch. She was fourth at the Sharpsville Invite last season. Kubinski and Wicker are both returning state medalists as well.

The other team in that equation is Brownsville Area. Gionna Quarzo was one of the state's most exciting freshman last fall. She was fifth at WPIALs and then placed 31st at states. She'll be looking to get inside the top 25 this season. She earned a state medal on the track in the 3200 meters. Sara Vance and Jessica Vance, a pair of rising seniors placed in the top ten at districts last year.

Southmoreland's Kaylee Farino, Hopewell's Lauren McCoy, Indiana's Harley Kessler and Avonworth's Anna Igims should also be worth watching for in this very deep district.
