D6-AAA Girls - Individuals Breakdown

Last year, DuBois Area's Cassie Folmar pulled out a nice upset victory over a talented group of State College runners. As we look to this season, it looks like the race for the individual D6 crown is wide open.

State College returns a number of girls that should compete for the title. Gabbi Bock is the team's top returner from last XC season. Bock, who transferred in from Virginia before the start of last season, took third at districts and then took 38th at states. Emma Simon was fourth at districts last season, and she did beat Bock for the 3200 meter D6 title on the track. Cailin Saylor (sixth at districts last year) make up a talented trio that should fit inside the top five at districts. These girls could also be in the mix for medals at the state meet.

The one who could break up that SC pack is Central Mountain's Alyssa Laughner. The rising senior won a pair of invitationals last season and placed fifth at the districts. She was second in the 1600 meters in D6 on the track and will hope will even more improvement into this fall. Her teammate Christina Lugg will also be aiming for a repeat trip to Hershey.

Other individuals to watch for in AAA include State College's Julia Neely, DuBois Area's Lauren Usaitis, and Hollidaysburg Area's Sierra McClain in what should be another great season of action.
