Somerset Area's duo of Dominic Mazzariello and Cejay Walker proved to be the class of District 5 last season, taking 1-2 at the D5 meet to lead their squad to the win. Mazzariello took the win at districts, but Walker had the upper-hand at states, placing 42nd overall in Class AA. Look for these two to motivate each other this fall as teammates. Their other teammate Jacob Groger is another to keep an eye on. He was fifth last season at districts.
The best bet to possibly take down that top Somerset duo is Garret Cornell of Bedford. He was third at districts, not too far off Mazzariello and Walker. With a good race, he'll have a shot at the top spot. Alex Calhoun (fourth in D5 in 2016), also from Bedford, is another runner to keep an eye on.
