Freshman Trapani Flies At LHU; Fast Times All Around: Week 1 Weekend Recap

Bear Mountain River Run - Recap

The story of the weekend has to be Lauren Trapani of Warrior Run. The freshman, in her first race at the high school level, dazzled folks at Lock Haven, blasting a 17:41 in the rain to take the win by nearly 50 seconds. Trapani held the middle school course record at LHU, but Saturday was truly her breakthrough with a tremendous solo victory. As far as debuts go, it doesn't get much better than this. She'll be one to watch in 1A this fall.

Wyalusing Valley's Hannah Corson ran well to take second. The senior clocked a 18:31 to take runner up honors to Trapani. Corson was 32nd in the state last season in 1A, but this is a very strong start for Corson. Fairview freshman Maddison Hayes also had a strong debut, running 18:49 for third.

Elmira Express from New York, claimed the team win with 61 points. Fairview, led by Hayes and another strong frosh Halle Myers, was second with 94 points to be the top PA squad.

After a breakthrough season last year, General McLane picked up right where it left off. McLane grabbed the top two spots with Nate Price going 15:43 for the win and Erik Andrzejewski taking second in 15:50.

General McLane, led by those low sticks, took the team win with 101 points. Warrior Run was second with 124 points.

On a fast day. Bellefonte's Brett Pope went 15:51 for third. That's well over a minute improvement for him from this meet last year. Coudersport freshman Tristan Amall put himself on the map with a very solid fourth place finish in a time of 16:01. Southern Columbia's Ethan Knoebel, who won at LHU last fall rounded out the top five in 16:05.
