Cherokee Challenge (NJ) - Meet Preview

A few PA teams will travel across state lines for the Cherokee Challenge in Marlton, NJ. The race breaks up individuals into grade level-specific races and scores it accordingly.

The PA#4 Downingtown West boys, fresh off a dominant performance at the Oakbourne Relays, will look for another strong weekend in NJ. Look for PA#19 Tyler Rollins, Isaac Valderrabano, Joseph Chamoun, and Kevin Long, who all just ran well at a dual meet for the Whippets.

Saturday will also be out first look at the boys from Bishop Shanahan. The PA#5 squad certainly has some question marks heading into the season, but is certainly a talented squad. Look for the season debut of Josh Hoey, along with his little brother Jonah Hoey.

Also look for Conestoga's Carlos Shultz and Unionville's Cole Walker. The pair went 1-2 in the freshman race last season and will move up to the sophomore race this season. James Conway is another one to watch from Unionville. The Germantown Friends boys are a team worth keeping an eye on as well.

On the girls' side, PA#19 Dominique Shultz, who pulled off the win in the junior race over eventual Foot Locker Northeast champ Alyssa Aldridge, will look for a strong performance this weekend.

Unionville took home the team win at Oakbourne last week and the squad is out to prove they can duplicate that performance. Look for PA#21 Madison McGovern in the junior race. JP McCaskey will be a team to watch with a strong senior duo of Lianna Tirado and Isabella Fife.
