Upsets, Surprises, and Dominant Performances: Week 2 Recaps

Mill Street Run - Meet Recap

By Abby Huber

Some District 1 and PAISSA teams were in action in Bristol, PA this past weekend at the Mill Street 5k.

Abigail Brown of Calvary Christian Academy blew the girls field away by running almost 2 minutes ahead of the pack to grab first place individually. Brown led her team to win as a team over District rival Jenkintown.

On the boys side, there was plenty more competition at the top end of the race. The top 3 runners were only separated by 10 seconds each. Finishing in 15:35, Jeffrey Love of George School won the meet. Love is now fifth overall in the state 5K rankings with his time from Mill Street. Love is the top returner in the PAISSA.

Jenkintown's Jack Miller was close behind Love in 15:40. Miller will be one to watch this season as he is the top returning runner in his classification in District 1.

In the team scoring, the Upper Dublin boys looked solid, winning the meet with a solid pack of scoring runners in the top 15. Ben Brugger and Samuel Griffin led the Upper Dublin team at Mill Street.

Led by Kevin Ehrgott's third place finish, the Council Rock North boys were still second as team even though they were missing two of their top five runners, in Ryan Campbell and Ethan Koza.

The team scores were divided between small and large schools. Jenkintown boys won as a team among small schools, but combined with the big schools they were still fourth overall. As the defending District 1 A champs, the Jenkintown boys are looking solid at the beginning of this season.
