Boardman Spartan Invitational (OH) - Meet Preview

A few PA teams will head west for one of Ohio's biggest regular season meets, the Boardman Spartan Invitational in Youngstown, and it should be a great barometer for where some of the WPIAL's best is at this

On the boys' side, we'll see PA#7 North Allegheny, PA#8 Butler, and Taylor Allderdice (PA Bubble). Butler just beat NA for the first time in 17 years in a dual meet, but we'll see if Butler can beat the Tigers in an invitational setting. Up front, Butler's Noah Beveridge (PA#2) should battle it out for the win. He opened up with a win at McDowell and hopes to keep it rolling this week.

North Allegheny brings in new PA#17 Daniel McGoey, who nearly pulled off the win at Red, White & Blue last week. He still took second and will be gunning for a second straight strong performance. NA was fourth at Schenley Park as a team, but will look to move up this week.

Another squad, Allderdice, could make some noise this weekend. They were sixth at Red, White & Blue, but have a talented top two with Tavonne Davis and Ethan Hermann. Those seniors should be in the mix near the front of the pack.

We'll see how those team stack up against OH-D1#5 St. Ignatius and OH-D1#8 Kenston.

In the girls' race, those same three PA powers will toe the line. NA's Clara Savchik took second at Red, White & Blue last week. She sits at PA#2, but will look to reclaim that top spot with a strong effort in Ohio. She'll get some good competition from some Ohio talents. The NA squad also enters the meet at PA#7. Sophomore Hannah Lindgren ran a strong race to take seventh at RWB.

Butler, led by PA#13 Maggie Welty is also in the field. They'll all matchup with OH-D1#2 Hudson OH-D1#6 Brunswick.
