Pennsylvania XC Week 3 Meets On Tap

Saucony/Gingerbread Man Running Co. Kiski Cavalier Invitational - Meet Preview

The west will heat up again as some strong teams will toe the line at Kiski's first-ever Cavalier Invitational.

In the boys' race, we'll see new PA#2 Mount Lebanon toe the line again. Mount Leb has had a big first two weeks, earning wins at Cal U. and Red, White & Blue. Now it looks like the squad will take its talents to Kiski this Saturday. Sophomore Patrick Anderson and junior Peter Cosentino led the way at Schenley Park last week. They have a tight gap and look to be a team capable of big things this season.

Peters Township's Zack Marmol (14th at Red, White & Blue), Indiana's Kendall Branan, Somerset Area's Dominic Mazzariello and Cejay Walker, and Hempfield Area's Gavin Mayo are among the other names that will look to break up Mount Lebanon's pack on Saturday.

In the girls' race PA#1 Fox Chapel Area and PA#2 Oakland Catholic are entered, but it doesn't look like either will run "A" teams on Saturday. Instead, we'll see some other teams lead the pack on Saturday.

Greater Latrobe's Maria Cawoski didn't race at PTXC9, but if she goes at Kiski, she'll be one to watch. Somerset Area's Rosie Chan should mix it up near the front, too.

Marion Center Area, a strong Class A squad, should be up there in the team standings. Led by MacKenzie Walker and Alyx Cornetto, MCA took third in the A/AA race at RWB. Look for Walker to compete for the individual win in this race.

Mount Lebanon, with Allison Small as its top runner, will look to take the team title as well. Overall, the girls race looks fairly wide open for this weekend.
