Kujdych, Beckner Conquer The Conditions At Briarwood

Boys' Challenge Race - Recap

It was anyone's race when the leaders came out of the woods and into the final loop at Belmont Plateau in the Boys' Challenge Race, the final varsity race on a hot afternoon in Philly.

In the end, it was Episcopal's Elias Lindgren who took the win, clocking a time of 16:35 and pulling away late from that pack to capture the victory. It's also a nice PR for Lindgren, who noted that Saturday was the first time in his career where he felt healthy on race day at Briarwood.

The senior was able to outlast Ben Woodward of Highland Regional (NJ) and Malvern Prep's Peter Borger. Borger came across third in 16:43, a solid performance from him. Cheltenham's Jason Cornelison was fourth and Haddonfield (NJ) took the next two spots with Greg Eisenhower and Martin Riddell.

Haddonfield (NJ) won the Challenge Race convincingly with 57 points. They also posted the day's second best team score based on the meet merge. Highland Regional, another NJ school, took second in the race with 109 points. Chaminade (NY) was third with 179 points, beating out Malvern Prep (also with 179 points) on a tie-breaker.
