Pennsylvania XC Week 6 Meets On Tap

Grove City Invitational - Meet Preview

BOYS PREVIEW

Chartiers Valley's Czar Tarr will be going for a big win on Saturday at Grove City. He was third in the AAA race at Red, White, & Blue, but then had an off day at Sharpsville, so he'll be looking to rebound with a strong performance to start off his October. A win could give him some good confidence heading into championship season.

It doesn't appear the host's top runner, Jonah Powell, who most recently took eighth at Carlisle, will race this weekend.

Instead, there are still a host of runners that will look to challenge Tarr for the win. Freedom Area's Adam Hessler ran 16:16 at Red, White & Blue and should be strong near the front. Riverview's Ben Barnes ran 16:17 at that same race and should be a factor again this weekend. Look out, too, for North Hills' Joey Buehner.

In the team race, Grove City should still be a factor even without Powell. Luke Owrey will be the likely top guy for GCA. Chartiers Valley, Riverview, and Reynolds could also be in the mix for the team title.

GIRLS PREVIEW

The girls race looks to be wide open for Saturday.

The Chartiers Valley duo of Kiki Thornton and Elise LaQuatra will shoot for the win. Both have posted a few strong performances so far this season.

Others to watch out or include Knoch's Samantha Jo Barnes, North Hills' Paige Lyden, Plum's Angela Valotta, and Shady Side's Emmie Lau

Altoona Area, Chartiers Valley, and Shady Side are among the teams aiming for the team title on Saturday.
