Championship Season Has Arrived In Utah


Championship season has arrived. 

On Wednesday in Utah, some of the best teams in the nation competed with state hardware on the line on the Sugar House Park's 3-mile course. By the finish, there was plenty to digest. 

Timpview senior Aidan Troutner, ranked No. 7 in the Flo50 rankings, claimed his first title in Class 5A with a time of 14:48.80 -- the top overall time on the day among all Utah athletes -- and Lehi senior Ryan Raff did the same, grabbing his first title in Class 4A with a time of 14:59.60. Raff is the No. 8-ranked runner in the nation on the Flo50. 

In Class 5A, the most anticipated matchup between two nationally ranked programs finished with No. 6 Springville establishing themselves and winning the Class 5A title with 40 points, nudging rival and No. 7-ranked Timpanogos, who came up second with 65 points. 

In the Class 6A field, the American Fork boys won yet another state title, their seventh championship in eight years, with a dominating 42-point performance. 

In the girls field, a handful of great performances went down, with Pine View solidifying the Class 4A title with 60 points, Skyline taking the Class 5A race with 76 points and Pleasant Grove winning the Class 6A championship with 78 points.
