PA Comes Away With Three US#1s; Norwillo Jumps 13 At The Armory: Marine Corps Classic Recap

Boys' Recap - Marine Corps Holiday Classic

Dock Mennonite's Austin Kratz just keeps rolling through his senior season on the track. Kratz showed the nation that he's one of the United States' best sprinters on Friday. He took down the talented Eric Allen Jr. (Bullis, MD) in the 200 meters, running 21.38, a new US#1.

It's a time that is the fastest any PA boys has clocked in the month of December. It's also a time that shows Kratz will likely have a shot at challenging Brady Gehret's state record in the event, which is 21.22 from 2010. Time will tell what else Kratz has in store, but he's had an ideal start to his season.

Kamil Jihad of Neumann Goretti was already the only Pennsylvania boy under two minutes in the 800 meters, but on Friday the senior extended his state lead. Jihad ran 1:56.23, just off his indoor PR, to finish second overall.

A false start took Norristown's Austin Montgomery out of the 60 meter dash at the Burdette Classic on Wednesday. But the sophomore roared back on Friday, placing second in the 55 meter dash final in a PA#2 time of 6.50. He also ran 22.31 in the 200 meters for a new PA#2.

Abington took home a new PA#1 in the 4x400 meter relay on Friday. The Ghosts ran 3:27.33 for fourth place in a loaded field. Chester went 3:27.80 for fifth and a PA#2 and Penn Wood ran 3:28.98 for sixth and a PA#3. Look for these squads to see a lot of each other as the season rolls on.

Germantown Academy's Caleb Johnson became the fourth boy over 15 feet in the pole vault on the season. Johnson matched his indoor PR of 15-0 (set at indoor states last winter) to place second overall. He now sits at PA#4 on the season.
