Top Talent To Descend Upon Lehigh: PTFCA Carnival Preview

Boys' Field Preview - PTFCA Indoor Track Carnival

High Jump

Two of the top four high jumpers in the state are set for Saturday. Milton Hershey's Jordan Winslow comes in ranked PA#2 with a best of 6-8 from earlier in the season. He'll be challenged by Reading's Juan Mato-Segura, who is at PA#4. Also entered is Perkiomen Valley's Cole Peterlin (PA#6), and Bermudian Springs' Kolt Byers (PA#7).

Long Jump

Schuylkill Valley's Brendan Sparr comes into the Carnival at PA#2 in the long jump. The two-time outdoor state champ in the event jumped 23-2 earlier in the season and will look to take over the top spot in the state come Saturday. But he'll be challenged by three others who have jumped past 22 feet this season and another right on the cusp. GW's Edner Dorwil (PA#4), State College's Lance Hamilton (PA#8) and Lampeter-Strasburg's Ezra Mellinger (PA#9) have all jumped over 22 feet this season. Easton's Brendon Ekoko is at PA#10, just off the 22 feet barrier.

Pole Vault

The top three boys in the pole vault will go head-to-head-to-head once again this weekend, just like they did last week at Millrose. In NYC, it was East Pennsboro's Payton Morris that came out on top of the entire event, jumping a new PA and PA#1 of 16-0.75. He'll shoot for 16 again this week. Also in the field is Charles Dever of West Chester Rustin (PA#2), who also PR'd this past week with a 15-9 at Lehigh. Joe Jardine of Schuylkill Valley (PA#3) is also among the entries. This should be a good one!

Shot Put

Jeff Kline of Fleetwood Area is one of the state's most improved athletes this winter. He launched a big throw of 55-11.25 last week at Perk Valley and he now sits at PA#2. He returns to the circle on Saturday and will look for another strong effort. Keith Dreese of Selinsgrove was at PA#1 for a good deal of the season. Currently, he's at PA#4, but would love to take back the top spot. Look for this battle at Lehigh for sure.

Also in the field is Dock's Alex Martin and Manheim Township's Patrick Cloonan.
