TSTCA Meet #4 - Meet Preview

The final regular season TSTCA meet comes to Edinboro on Saturday ahead of next week's TSTCA Championship meet.

Girls' Preview

TRACK

The 60-meter hurdles (like they are at Saturday's PTFCA Carnival) will one of the day's best events. PA#3 Brenna Cavanaugh of Bentworth leads the field, but PA#6 Jayla Ellis of Oakland Catholic, PA#8 Amberly Valeriano of North Hills, Bailey Traczynski of Hempfield Area, and Elizabeth Close of Somerset Area.

North Allegheny's Casey Burton (PA#4) is the top seed in the 60 meters, which also includes Cavanaugh. Burton is also entered in the 200 meters, which will also feature Molly Mangan of Mount Lebanon. Greater Latrobe's Faith Mucci is one to watch in the 400 meters.

Butler's Maggie Welty is the top seed in the mile, while her teammate Liz Simms is the top seed in the 800 meters. NA's Clara Savchik leads the 3,000 meter field, but also entered is Oakland Catholic's Hannah Schupansky.

FIELD

Cavanaugh is the one to watch in the long jump. She's the reigning state champ, though she currently sits at PA#12. Also in the LJ field is Burton (PA#8) and Zoe Roush of Forest Hills (PA#9).  In the triple jump, Roush (PA#6) is the top seed, but also looking for the win will be the Penn Cambria duo of Lauren Michina and Lyric Janosik. In the high jump, North East's Carlye Zahner is the one to beat. She is currently PA#3 in the event.

Hempfield Area's Molly DeBone (PA#7) is the one to beat in the pole vault; she won the first two TSTCA meets in the event. The shot put will be very competitive as it has been all season in the TSTCA. Sam Dyson of Punxsutawney Area had a huge PA#2 throw of 43-4 last week and she'll enter as the top seed. PA#4 Lillia Allen of Penn Hills, PA#6 Laurel Bristow of Baldwin, PA#9 Mackenna Orie of Hempfield Area, PA#11 Jena Reinheimer of Butler, and PA#12 Abby Whitaker of Corry Area are also in the field for what should be another great competition.


Boys' Preview

TRACK

The state leader in the 60 meters, James Krandel of Bethel Park, returns to his main event where he'll look to improve upon his PA#1 of 6.97. Alex Trower of Penn Hills and Greater Latrobe's Joseph Piper are also in the field and will look to compete for the win. Krandel and Trower are also in the 200 meters and should be factors. Riverside's Calvin Wetzel is the top-ranked boy in the 400 meters. North Allegheny's Donovan Rice is the top seed in the 60-meter hurdles.

In the mile, Logan Caruso of Bradford Area, Gordon Pollock of Winchester Thurston, and Brett Brady of Butler are the top seeds. Chartiers Valley's Czar Tarr will be one to watch in the 3,000 meters, which also includes Mount Lebanon's Peter Cosentino and Seneca Valley's Connor Volk-Klos.

FIELD

Mount Lebanon's Mason Ventrone is the top-ranked boy in the high jump. He sits at PA#7. Also in the field is Penn Hills' Emmanuel Mitchell (PA#12). Butler's Jack Codispot (PA#7) and Waynesburg Central's Will Behm (PA#8) will look to put on a good show in what should be a competitive pole vault.

Bradford Area's John Eakin (PA#7) is the top seed in the shot put. He'll look to make a jump in the rankings. PA#9 Nick Hyde of Somerset is also in what should be a fairly open field.
