Pennsylvania Indoor Champs Weekend Meets On Tap

53rd TFACofGP Meet of Champions - Meet Preview

At Lehigh on Saturday, the TFCAofGP will meet in what should be another great edition of the Meet of Champions.

SPRINTS/HURDLES

Kristian Marche of Imhotep will look for another big effort in the 60 meters. The senior just won the 60 meters at the New Balance Grand Prix in Boston in a new PR of 6.85, a sign he's hitting his stride at the right time. He's the top seed, but the field is loaded and just making the finals will be tough. Armonte Paulk of Hill-Freedman and Brassir Stocker of Downingtown East are among the others in the field.

In the 200 meters, it'll be a close one as Truman's Sayyid Saunders, Neshaminy's Savion Hebron, Council Rock North's Michael Welde, and Penncrest's Collin Tait all bring quick times into Lehigh. In the 400 meters, Westtown's Julian Klenner will matched up with Welde, Paulk, and the Upper Dublin duo of Brandon Vargas-Bines and Michael Henning.

In the 60-meter hurdles, Chester's James Jackson and Pennsbury's Nasan Robbins is the matchup to watch. Jackson enters at PA#5, while Robbins is at PA#6.

DISTANCE

Central Bucks West's Brian Baker comes in as the top seed in the mile and the 800 meters. Baker won the mile in a PA#8 time of 4:21 last week and will look to keep it rolling. The Haverford School's Will Merhige and Penncrest's Avery Lederer will look to challenge him there.

In the 800 meters, Neumann Goretti's Kamil Jihad (PA#4) will be one worth watching for, along with Baker. LaSalle's Evan Addison, Chester's Lamaj Curry, Abington's Cameron Mitchell, Pennridge's Matt Eissler, and Quakertown's Hudson Delisle make up a deep half mile field.

Neshaminy's Rusty Kujdych is the heavy favorite in the 3,000 meters. He's already run 8:39 last month, so he's well under the MOC record of 8:47.18, set in 2012 by Chestnut Hill's Dustin Wilson. Jenkintown's Jack Miller went sub-9 last week and is also in the field.

FIELD

Bensalem's Yobani Moreno has stood at PA#1 since earlier this month when he threw 56-6 at Lehigh. He returns to that circle this weekend and will be shooting for another big toss.

The horizontal jumps should generate quite a bit of intrigue. Wissahickon's Ahmir Johnson enters as the top seed in the long jump and sits at PA#2, but expect George Washington's Edner Dorwil and Imhotep's Akeem Cooper to not go down without a fight. In the triple jump, Cooper returns. He enters at PA#3 after a big leap last week. PA#4 Dayo Abeeb of Strath Haven and PA#5 Logan Williamson of Neshaminy will also be chasing the win.

West Chester Rustin's Charles Dever will go for the win in the pole vault. He's cleared 15-9 this season and he'll be the strong favorite. In the high jump, Jonathon Squadrito of LaSalle (PA#3) goes for his fourth win of the season. Perkiomen Valley's Cole Peterlin (PA#6) will present his biggest challenge.
