Boys' 4x200-Meter Relay Preview
Saint Joseph's Prep separated itself from the pack in what has been a strange year of sorts in the 4x200-meter relay. Prep dropped a 1:29.68 at the New Balance Games in January and no other team has gotten all that close to them so far this season.
Dock Mennonite, which will be anchored, of course, by state record holder Austin Kratz comes in as the two seed. It may be on Kratz to try and run down Prep on the anchor leg, but Prep will look to put it out of reach by then. Central Bucks South has had a breakthrough season, which included a 1:31.14 at Ocean Breeze earlier this season. Don't sleep on the Titans.
One team to certainly watch here is Central Dauphin East. It won the 4x200-meter relay at the PTFCA Carnival in 1:32.09, a very quick flat track time. Right behind them is Harry S. Truman, which went 1:32.41 on the same flat track a day earlier. Both will be in the fast heat of what could turn into a very interesting battle.
In the 4x2, race and lane assignment means everything. Wilson will be a team to watch out of the second fastest heat. It went 1:31.22 and could put itself in the mix for the win here. The same goes for squads like Roman Catholic, J.P. McCaskey, Pennridge, and North Penn who could all be looking at spots high on the medal stand with strong races.
