Friday 4x800 trials: AAA Boys: Carlisle boys, LaSalle boys win heats, Upper Dublin and Central Bucks South advance with ease.  AAA Girls: Central Bucks West girls, Downingtown East girls win heats.  AA Boys: Quaker Valley boys, Camp Hill Boys win heats.  AA Girls: Villa Joseph Marie girls, Bethlehem Catholic girls win heats. 

100 Dash: Shanae Bailey, Swenson, was the fastest AA qualifier with a time of 12.00, and the fastest qualifier on the day.  Rayiana Johnson, Chester, was the fastest AAA qualifer with a time of 12.16.  Tevrin Brandon, Bethlehem Catholic, was the fastest AA qualifier in 10.92 and Pierre Carr, Peabody, was fastest in AAA with a 10.73.

100/110H: Anthonia Ballard, Swenson, was the fastest AA qualifier in 14.88, and Alysha Cook, Harrisburg, was the fastest in AAA with a 14.52. Christian Kuntz. Trinity, was the fastest AA qualifier in 14.84.  Michael Brown, Lower Dauphin, was fastest in AAA with a 14.47.

1600 Run: Janessa Benn, Ellis School, was the fastest AA qualifier in 5:07.13.  Natalie Bower, Greater Latrobe, was the fastest in AAA with a time of 5:00.44.  Sam Havko, Fairview, was the fastest AA qualifier with a time of 4:27.13. 

In AA Girls 400 Meter Dash, six girls broke 58 to quality, lead by a 57.33 by Change Moore, a West Philadelphia sophomore. But behind Michelle Davis, her teammate and a fellow soph, who ran 57.41, six qualified for the finals. In AAA Girls, Brittany Wallace, Penn Wood, led all qualifiers with her 55.83. Milton Hershey freshman Almamy Bangura was the top AA Boys qualifier, gong 48.65. And recent AA star Anthony Davidson of Wilson Area (11) showed he's just as comfortable in AAA with his 46.97 qualifier, less than 4/10th of a second over his AA title time in 2008.

The District 12 powerhouses led the AA 4x100 qualifiers, as West Catholic's girls ran 48.06 anfd Swenson went 48.30. Central Bucks East was the top AAA girls qualifer with their 47.94. Abington ran 48-flat. Milton Hershey went 42.74 in AA boys. And Altoona left no doubt about their intentions with their 41.66.

In the 300 Meter Hurdles, the Mouse - Swenson's Anthonia Ballard - gave a little roar, running 44-flat in AA.. Three others ran under 45. Abington sophomore Leah Nugent showed why she is the top seed in AAA, running 42.94. Trinity (3) saenior Christian Kuntz joined either others under 40 seconds, but his 39.30 was tops. Two AAA guys dipped under 38, Michael Brown, Lower Dauphin at 37.86, and Tyree Bennett, Bradford, at 37.98.

Defending AA state 800 Meter Champ Kalyn Fisher of Lewisburg ran 2:17.58. Greensburg Central Catholic senior Hannah Lash led the other heat in 2:17.69. The battle lines are drawn in AAA as Taylor Bumpas, Gwynedd Mercy, went 2:15.34 in the first heat and State College soph Chloe Schmidt ran 2:16.37 in the other. East Allegheny senior Kevin Jewell ran 1:56.56 in the first heat, which had the most possible qualifiers in eight, all under two. In the 2nd heat, top seed Sam Havko, Fairview, just cruised to a 2:00.21. In AAA. North Penn's Brian Quintrell led favorite Tom Mallon (CB South) over the line in heat two in by .03 in 1:55.42.

Swenson junion Shanae Bailey was the top AA Girls 200 Meter qualifer in 24.72.  Chester junior Rayiana Johnson went 24.24 to lead two others under 25 seconds in AAA. 21.87 was the top AA Boys 200 qualifer, coming in the first heat from Tarelle Irwin of Monessen. Brady Gehret, the top 200 runner in PA, cruised to a 2nd 21.97 in his heat, one of seven under 22. But he was resting - for the split he was about to run in the trials of the 4x400 Meter Relay.

Lewisburg led all AA girls 4x400 qualifier, going 3:57.75. They were chased by Blue Ridge in 2nd in 3:57.96. Brittany Wallace has been confident in her 4x400 teammates. The went a very quick 3:51.92. Abington cruised in the next heat in 3:55.04. Engineering & Science was in in 2:21.37 in AA. And if you didn't go under 3:19.68 in AAA, you didn't make the finals. Maybe that explains Altoona's 3:17.53, which was highlighted by a 46.4 split by Brady Gehret.


Friday AM Field: Rodney Richter, Connellsville, won the boys AAA Discus with a throw of 183-8.  Kristin Smith, Souderton, won the girls AAA High Jump with a leap of 5-9. Bermudian junior Georgia Williams cleared 11 and won on misses in the AA girls pole Vault. Union Area's Cameron Lewis jumped 18-5.25 to take the AA long jump. West Chester Henderson senior Shante Evans controlled the AAA shot put from the start, winning with a throw of 43-4. Athens soph Jarred Gambrell went out 47-06.50 to win the AA boys triple jump. Kyle Smith, Lancaster Catholic, threw the jav 203.03 ton win AA boys.

Friday PM Field: Northern Cambria junior Janae Dunchack won her third consecutive AA girls high jump, clearing 5-6. Ashley Adams of Freedom went 145-05 to win the AA girls Discus. Phoenixville junior Courtney Kedra won by just .25 over Cheltenham junior Brittney Howell with a leap of 18-09.75 in the AAA girls long jump. William Allen senior Amber Troxell was pushed in the AAA girls javelin, throwing 148-4 in the finals. Chasing her were Lindsey Oberacker, McDowell, at 145-3, and Elizabeth Forward junior Tori Paterra at 144-11. Five guys cleared 14-6, but it was Harbor Creek senior Chris Carpin who walked away with the top prize.. In the AA boys shot put, Middletown's Collin Ray threw 57-1 to win over Wilmington senior Josh Falvo by three inches. And Muhlenberg senior Tyrell Ellison leapt a PA#2 49-00.75 to win the AAA boys triple jump.
