The Hamline Elite Meet boys 3200m had one heck of a crazy kick to the finish in Saint Paul, Minnesota, this past Friday night.
With 400 meters to go, the race still had four guys in contention for the title. With 300 meters to go, the race had strung out a bit with three guys still in striking distance. With 200 meters to go, Joseph Minor from Minneapolis Washburn High School (MN) was in the lead but Khalid Hussein from Wayzata High School (MN) and Max Manley from Edina High School (MN) were both closing hard.
In the final 100 meters, Hussein and Manley made a strong push on the outside around Minor with Hussein having what looked to be a slight advantage with a better position. Manley hit another gear with around 80 meters left to close hard and take the win running 9:14.63. Minor placed second running 9:15.55 and Hussein took third running 9:16.26.
