Team Breakdown: PIAA District 11 Boys

D11-AA Boys - Team Breakdown

District 11 Class AA will be interesting this season. The two state qualifying teams from last year -- Notre Dame Green Pond and Allentown Central Catholic -- lost some key graduated seniors that could make their respective paths back to Hershey difficult. Overall, D11-AA looks up for grabs.

NDGP returns John Koons, the reigning district champion, but loses four from last year's D11-AA title team that went on to take 12th at states. NDGP traditionally rebuilds nicely and we can expect them to make a good run at the top two again this year. ACC loses six of its top seven from last year. It will need some runners to step up to get in the mix this season.

Bangor Area moves from 3A to 2A this season and that means they'll be in the hunt. Marino Bubba was 15th in D11-AAA last season and will be a solid leader for Bangor this season.

Saucon Valley was third in the district last year. Four seniors from that team are gone, but Matthew Chaikowsky placed fourth in the district last year as a freshman. He'll look to lead the whole team into the top two this season. North Schuylkill brings back four of seven from last year's team that took fourth in D11-AA. Look for them to make a good run, led by Sean McCabe and Jack Nahas.

Blue Mountain will also make a run at the top two, as well. Three varsity boys are back from the team that placed sixth last year at districts. Cole Albitz and Kevin Haas will lead Blue Mountain this season. Jim Thorpe Area (seventh in '17), Northwestern Lehigh (fifth in '17), and Tamaqua Area (ninth in '17) will all hope to contend come late October.
