Team Breakdown: PIAA District 4 Girls

D4-AA Girls - Team Breakdown

The Danville Area girls completed a dream season in 2017. After a few years of high finishes at Hershey, the Ironmen used its tremendous depth to take home the AA state title -- its first since 1991.

Led by strong performances by lowsticks Elaina Klinger, Emma Mikita, and Marisa Maffei it all came together for the girls in orange and purple. Lucky for Danville, those top three girls and two others -- Grace Petrick and Rainy Oldfield -- from last year's title team are back this season. A repeat state crown is certainly once again in the cards for these girls.

First, however, will come winning an historic tenth straight District 4 district title. This veteran Danville squad is poised to keep it rolling this year.

Looking to challenge the champs within the district will be Warrior Run. The freshmen-packed Warrior Run girls dominated in 1A last fall, but make the move to 2A for this season. Lauren Trapani will be the individual favorite for the district title, and fellow rising sophomores Cameron Trapani and Emma Miller will supply some good depth.

With just two state qualifying spots on the line, the battle for those trips to Hershey will be heated. Lewisburg Area will be a team to watch. Second at districts last year and 17th at states, Lewisburg returns five girls from last year's team, including rising sophomore Delaney Humphrey and rising senior Lauren Michaels. This team will once again be in contention for a spot in states.

Milton Area, Jersey Shore Area, and Mifflinburg will also look to get in to the conversation with these teams in what will be a very strong year overall for District 4 Class AA.
