Individuals Breakdown: District 9 Boys

D9-A Boys - Individuals Breakdown

The top six boys from last year, and eight of the top ten from District 9 Class A are back this fall in what should be a very exciting season for a deep D9-A.

At the top is Ben Hoffman of Elk County Catholic, who took home the district title last season and went on to place eighth at the state meet. Hoffman also won at the Bradford and Ridgway Invite before his D9 victory. He's back for his junior season and will be a serious threat not only for the repeat in the district, but also for a state title. His ECC teammate Isaac Wortman is also back this season. Wortman took third in D9-A last year and then placed 31st at states. Both Hoffman and Wortman are one of the top 1A 1-2 punches in PA this season.

Also in the running for the district title is Smethport Area's Darion Gregory. He was just four seconds off Hoffman for the district title last year, placing second, and the he took 12th at the state meet. Gregory and Hoffman will likely square off a few times this fall leading up to the postseason, which will be an interesting inter-district matchup to watch for.

Smethport's Christian Tanner (fourth), Ridgway's Nicolas Heredero (fifth), and Brookville's Ethan Brentham (sixth) are among the other high finishers from last year's district meet back again this fall. Look for these boys to mix it up with the favorites.

Cranberry's Daniel Fisher was ninth a year ago at districts. Tristan Amell of Coudersport took tenth in the district a year ago and has a 16:01 to his name from last season. These two could also make some noise this season.
