LEXINGTON, Va. – Ademola Titcombe's third-place finish in the triple jump paced VMI on day one of the Military Track and Field Championships, held Friday in Lexington, Va.
Titcombe recorded a leap of 14.37 M (47'1 ¾”) to earn the result, as he posted six points for the team. Teammate Terrance Green was fifth in that same event, jumping 13.57 M (44'6 ¼”) as VMI put up 10 points in the triple jump.
The Keydets grabbed four points in the shot put as well, thanks to a seventh-place finish by Cody Davis (14.55 M, 47'9”) and James Handler scoring the final eligible point with an 11th-place finish (13.39 M, 43'11 ¼”). Handler grabbed that point due to a meet rule that allows only the top two scorers from each team to notch points in a specific event.
All told, Army leads the men's side with 32 points while Navy is in second with 19. The Keydets' 14 points place them third, Air Force is in fourth place (nine points) and Coast Guard has tallied three markers thus far. The women's competition is led by Air Force's 26 points, and trailed by Army and Navy, who are tied with 23 points apiece. The Citadel is in fourth, as the Bulldogs have three points after the first day.
