2/5-Hannon-Smith duel in TJ, Brown-Walker PA 1-2 in Mile after TSTCA #4 @ Robert Morris U.

Nicole Smith of McDowell has been dominating western PA field events for a few years. Her heir apparent - Bradford junior Erin Hannon - is not only challenging her, but the two simply took over the top spots in the state triple jump with performances that are also nationally ranked. Hannon won this duel with a leap of 38-11, now US#4. Smith was just 7.5 inches short of that at 38-03.50, which is currently US#7. Smith did take the 55 Hurdles in 8.4 seconds. Hannon took 2nd in the Long Jump to Breehanna Jacobs, who went 18-07.50 to Hannon;s 17-11.50. Jacobs is now in a tie for US#9. But the big news was Jacob\'s school change. When she last competed, she was representing Uniontown. But at this meet, her jersey said Laurel Highlands. In the Pole Vault, Latrobe\'s Caitlin Hewitt cleared 12-0 for the win. Cardel Johnson of West Allegheny took two events, the 55 in 6.4 seconds, and the 200 in 22.9, the same time awarded West Mifflin\'s Montel Williamson. Max Brown, North Allegheny, and Jake Walker, Ellwood City, were at it again, but this time at a shorter distance. The result was the same, they took over the top two PA spots with Brown in front. Brown\'s 4:25.2 Mile was 2.1 second better than Walker\'s.
