Meet notes and invitation from Steve Spence: The Annual Alumni meet has been renamed the Galen E. Piper Alumni/Open Cross Country Challenge in honor of Coach Piper who started the women's xc program in 1979 and coached through 1997.   

Coach Piper will be the official starter and will no doubt win the race to the front of the line at the Pot Luck.
 
The meet will be contested on Saturday, September 4 with the men's 6k beginning at 10:30 and the women's 4k and 11:00 am.  Our alumni will participate as well as Dickinson, Frostburg, Gettysburg and Hagerstown Colleges.  The 1 mile fun run for the young and young at heart will begin at approximately 11:30.  The Pot Luck luncheon will follow the fun run.
 
I've attached the meet information sheet.  If you plan to run in the 4k or 6k, please let me know so that I can assign a race # and have it ready for you.  No registration is necessary for the 1 mile fun run.
 
Please spread the word.  It would be great to have many of Coach Piper's former athletes attend this inaugural event.  If you plan to attend in any capacity, please let me know the number who will accompany you so that I can plan accordingly with the amount of food.  I will provide Subway party platters for all to share and for the pot luck portion, please bring a salad, dessert or your favorite speciality dish.
