Women's cross country team places second at SHU Griffin Classic

Freshman Bre Paul finishes fifth overall in Greensburg

GREENSBURG, Pa. (Sept. 4) – The Waynesburg University women's cross country team placed second out of the seven-team field at the SHU Griffin Classic, which was hosted by Seton Hill University on Saturday.

 

For the second-straight race, freshman Bre Paul paced the Yellow Jackets. The Irwin native finished a team-best fifth overall with a time of 20:47. She was followed by fellow newcomer Tiffany Onifer, who placed sixth in the field after crossing the finish line in 21:12.

 

Junior Michelle Naymick rounded out the team's top three performers by finishing the race in 21:46, good for a 10th-place showing.  

 

The Waynesburg runners return to competition on Saturday, Sept. 11, when they host the annual Waynesburg Invitational at the Greene County Airport. The women's race is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m.
